Der Begriff der Polyamory tauchte in den 1960er Jahren erstmals in den USA auf und wird seit etwa zehn Jahren auch hierzulande breiter diskutiert. Er steht für ein Beziehungsgeflecht, in dem mehrere Liebesbeziehungen verantwortungsvoll, ehrlich, offen und verbindlich gleichzeitig entwickelt und gelebt werden. Als Vorläufer sind die «Free-love-Bewegung» in der Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts, die vor allem eine sexuelle Emanzipation der Frauen im Zentrum ihrer Forderung hatte, sowie flüchtige Denk- und Diskussionsansätze nach der Russischen Revolution zu sehen.
Die vorliegende Veröffentlichung entfernt nun einen «blinden Fleck» in der publizistischen Landschaft. Sie geht der Frage nach, auf welchem Konzept der Liebe die Polyamory aufbaut und stellt den gegenwärtigen Forschungsstand zum Thema ausführlich dar. Die Auseinandersetzungen um «vielfältige Lebensweisen» werden aufgenommen, Polyamory wird als Aspekt in der Dynamisierung der Triade Geschlecht-Sexualität-Lebensfo rm betrachtet und aus der Sicht des aktuellen Forschungsstandes dargestellt.
Besonderes Augenmerk wird auf die Stellung der Polyamory innerhalb der Sexualpädagogik gelegt und dies in Hinblick auf eine Erziehung und Beratung, die Selbstbestimmung und Selbstverantwortung in den Bereichen Sexualität und Lebensweisen aller Menschen anerkennt und entsprechende Handlungsansätze entwickelt.
