Eyal ist Agent beim israelischen Geheimdienst Mossad, doch von Martini geschwängerte 007-Romantik hat sein Leben nicht zu bieten. Und weil es Anzeichen gibt, dass der alte Mann nach Jahren im süd-amerikanischen Untergrund nach Deutschland zurückkehren will, setzt der Mossad Eyal auf die Geschwister an - getarnt als Reiseleiter."Walk on Water" ist ein aufschlussreiches Zeugnis israelisch-deutscher Befindlichkeiten, die sich in der Beschreibung von Eyal am stärksten ausdrückt. Ein aus Widersprüchen zusammengesetzter Israeli begreift, dass er nicht im Besitz der einzigen Wahrheit ist.

Eyal ist Auftragskiller des israelischen Geheimdienstes Mossad. Nur widerwillig akzeptiert er seinen neuesten Auftrag: Um den untergetauchten ehemaligen Nazi-Offizier Alfred Himmelman aufzuspüren, wird er auf dessen Enkel Axel angesetzt, der seine Schwester Pia in Israel besucht. Pia hat ihrer Familie in Deutschland den Rücken gekehrt und lebt nun in einem Kibbuz. Eyal gibt sich als persönlicher Fremdenführer aus und führt Pias Bruder Axel zu den historischen Stätten Jerusalems und an die Strände des Toten Meeres. Trotz ihrer gegensätzlichen Persönlichkeiten beginnt sich der verhärtete Eyal für Axels liberale Sichtweise und seinen intelligenten Enthusiasmus zu interessieren. Doch Eyals machohafter Konservatismus wird von Axels offenem Umgang mit seiner Homosexualität herausgefordert. Eine unangenehme Spannung entsteht zwischen den beiden jungen Männern. Bald nach Axels Rückkehr nach Deutschland vermutet der Mossad, dass Himmelman zur großen Geburtstagsfeier von Axels Vater aus seinem Versteck erscheinen wird. Deshalb wird Eyal nach Deutschland geschickt, wo er Axel treffen soll, um die Wahrheit über die berüchtigte Familie herauszufinden. Durch den kürzlichen Tod seiner Ex-Frau ungewöhnlich verletzlich, wird der Berufskiller Eyal auch einige Wahrheiten über sich selbst entdecken müssen.
