Der Mond war hinter einer Wolke verschwunden, kein Mondlicht, das sich in den Wogen spiegelte und unerreichbar blieb. Das letzte Stück tauchten wir. Dann wieder Sand unter den Füßen, über den wir an den Strand liefen. Muschelsplitter zwischen den Zehen, ich tauchte meine Füße noch einmal ins Meer, bevor ich das Badetuch um mich schlang. Ihre Haare standen vom Kopf weg, nachdem sie sie getrocknet hatte. Meine ließen Wassertropfen in den Sand fallen…“
Jeden Sommer verbringt sie in Italien, wo sie sich mit Portraits von Touristen ihr Kunststudium finanziert. Damit scheint zwar ein Traum in Erfüllung gegangen zu sein, doch nach kurzer Zeit ist davon nichts als ein Gefühl der Leere und Verpflichtung übrig geblieben. Bilder von einem schockierenden Erlebnis tauchen immer wieder in ihren Gedanken auf, machen sie starr und unfähig etwas zu verändern. Schon lange wünscht sie sich Frauenlippen auf die ihren. Als sie sich in Julia verliebt, erkennt sie zum ersten Mal, dass sie selbst ihr Leben in die richtige Richtung steuern muss. Dabei beginnt eine Suche nach dem, was ihr wichtig ist.
