Ein Drache sitzt am Waldesrand
Seine Schuppen glänzend
In dem schwindet Sonnenlicht
Das von ihnen reflektiert

Stolz und erhaben er dort wacht
Mit wachsamen Blicke
Über die Wiese
Die sich erstreckt
Bis an den Horizont

Und wartet
Auf seinen Reiter
Der schnellen Schrittes eilt
Zu ihm herüber
Um ihn wiederzusehen

Lange waren sie getrennt
Weil sich der Drache musst
Verstecken, vor denen
Ihm nichts gutes
Doch die Gefahr ist gebannt
Sein Reiter ein großer Krieger
Mit breiten Schultern

Und makellosem Gesicht
In das fällt
Das lange Haar

An seiner Hüfte ein Schwert
Dessen Klinge die grüne Färbung schmückt
In der des Drachens Schuppen

Überschwänglich vor Freude
Beide sich begrüßen

Der Reiter seinem Drachen
Die Arm schlingt
Um seinen langen Hals

Der Drache sein tiefes Brummen ertönen lässt
Um zu sagen
Schön dich wieder zu sehen

So die beiden sitzen
Am Waldesrand
Und sich erzählen
Was vorgefallen

Bis das schwindend Licht
Des vergehenden Tages erlischt
Und weicht der Nacht

Das Lagerfeuer erhellt ihr Gesichter
Der Krieger sich schmiegt
An den währenden Bauch seines Gefährden

Der um ihn einen Flügel legt
Um ihn zu wärmen
In dieser kalten Nacht

Dann er sich selbst legt
Zum schlafen
Den katzenartigen Kopf
Auf die Vorderbeine gelegt

Nach langer Zeit
Sie wieder vereint
Und dies genießen
