"Wie oft weinen wir unseren verpassten Chancen hinterher? Wie oft denkt man; Hätte ich in dieser Situation nur so reagiert oder das gesagt? Wie oft macht man sich Vorwürfe das man seinem Chef nicht die Meinung gesagt hat? Wie oft ärgert man sich darüber, diese Traumfrau (oder Mann) nicht angesprochen zu haben. Selbst das nicht oder zuviel verspeiste Stück Schokolade erscheint uns schon als Sünde.

Schluss damit! Denn letztendlich werden wir für unsere Entsagungen bestraft. Jede Versuchung, die wir zu ersticken versuchen, rumort in unserer Seele weiter und vergiftet uns. Widerstehen wir der Versuchung, so wird unsere Seele krank vor Verlangen nach den Dingen, die sie sich versagt hat, vor Begierde nach alledem, was ihre Gesetze (kommt Gesetze von aufgesetzt?) für falsch und ungesetzlich erklärt haben.

Unterdrücken wir die Versuchung nicht “sündigt” der Körper zwar, aber dann ist die Sünde für ihn erledigt, denn die Tat ist eine Form der Läuterung. Nichts bleibt zurück als die Erinnerung an ein Vergnügen oder die Wollust der Reue. Die wirklich einzige Möglichkeit, eine Versuchung loszuwerden, besteht darin, das man ihr nachgibt."
