US-Kurvenstar Tura Satana ist tot
Die US-Schauspielerin Tura Satana ist im Alter von 72 Jahren gestorben. Der frühere Kurvenstar wurde insbesondere durch die Filme von Kultregisseur Russ Meyer bekannt.
US-Kurvenstar und Femme fatale Tura Satana ist tot. Wie die "Los Angeles Times" am Montag berichtete, starb die durch den Kultfilm "Die Satansweiber von Tittfield" berühmt gewordene Schauspielerin bereits am vergangenen Freitag in Reno (Nevada) an Herzversagen. Nach Angaben ihrer Managerin Siouxzan Perry wurde sie 72 Jahre alt. Laut "Los Angeles Times" wurde Satana 1938 als Tura Luna Pascual Yamaguchi in Japan geboren und wuchs in Chicago auf. Den Zweiten Weltkrieg verbrachte die Familie in einem US-Internierungslager für Bürger japanischer Abstammung.
In Chicago arbeitete Satana zunächst als exotische Tänzerin und Aktmodell, bevor sie zum Film kam. Ihr Schauspieldebüt gab sie 1963 mit einer Nebenrolle in Billy Wilders Komödie "Das Mädchen Irma la Douce". Zwei Jahre später kam der Durchbruch mit "Die Satansweiber von Tittfield". In dem Kultfilm von Russ Meyer spielt Satana die Stripperin Varla - als überaus brutale Anführerin einer reinen Frauengang tötet sie mit ihren bloßen Händen einen jungen Mann. Die Rolle brachte ihr auch den Spitznamen "Arnold Schwarzenegger der bösen Mädchen" ein.
