Habe gestern "A thousand splendid suns" (Tausend strahlende Sonnen) von Khaled Hosseini zu Ende gelesen, von ihm ist auch "Der Drachenläufer"- ein sehr interessantes Buch, spielt in Afghanistan und beschreibt die Zeit während der Kriege der vergangenen 30 Jahre aus der Sicht zweier Frauen- hatte danach Tränen in den Augen. Sehr empfehlenswert will ich damit sagen!

Eine Rezension:
Mariam ist ein harami, ein uneheliches Kind. Als ihre Mutter sich umbringt, wird sie von ihrem Vater deshalb schnellstmöglich mit einem Schuhhändler aus Kabul verheiratet. Die junge Laila ereilt Jahre später ein ähnliches Schicksal, das sich mit dem Mariams verflicht - sehr zu deren Unwillen. Dann jedoch versuchen beide Frauen, ihr Leben selbst in die Hand zu nehmen, doch unter dem Terrorregime der Mudschaheddin und später der Taliban bleibt ihnen dazu so gut wie kein Spielraum. Und so bleibt schließlich nur ein Ausweg. "Tausend strahlende Sonnen" ist ein Buch, das den Leser in keiner Weise schont, ihn oft schreckerstarrt weiterlesen lässt, das aber auch außerordentlich behutsam mit seinen Figuren umgeht. Khaled Hosseini malt die Charaktere der beiden sehr unterschiedlichen Frauen nur durch Nuancen aus, schafft es aber, sie einem innerhalb weniger Seiten fest ans Herz wachsen zu lassen.
