Der Frauenraum ist einmalig in der Schweiz, wenn nicht gar in ganz Europa. Er befindet sich im autonomen Alternativzentrum Reitschule in Bern. Der Raum wird von einer ca. 15-köpfigen Gruppe von Frauen geführt. Im ersten Freitag des Monats findet die Frauendisco statt, am vierten Samstag des Monats die Frauenbar. Diese Veranstaltungen sind ausschliesslich Frauen zugänglich. Alle zwei Monate am dritten Samstag findet die schwul-lesbische Party \"DRANGSAAL\" statt, die von einer Off-Gruppe, bestehend aus Männern und Frauen, organisiert wird und vorallem elektronische Musik anbietet. Nebst diesen regelmässigen Veranstaltungen finden Konzerte, Lesungen, Theater, Partys (Drag-Night, Queersicht) etc. statt. Einige dieser Anlässe sind gemischt, andere ausschliesslich für Frauen. Der Frauenraum befindet sich unter dem Dach. Die Reitschule ist ein ca. 100-jähriges Gebäude, das in den achtziger-Jahren besetzt wurde. Das macht natürlich zu einem grossen Teil den Charme des grossen Raumes aus. Die Athmosphäre ist angenehm und einladend. Die Organisatorinnen arbeiten alle unentgeltlich. Der Frauenraum hat das ganze Jahr über geöffnet, ausser im Januar und Juli (Januarloch und Sommerpause). Im Jahr 2003 wird der Frauenraum von Mitte Mai bis Ende August geschlossen sein, da der Raum ein neues Dach, einen neuen Boden und eine neue Bar kriegt. Die Veranstaltungen Frauendisco und DRANGSAAL finden dennoch statt, jedoch in anderen Räumen der Reitschule.
