Wie bei lesbischen Beziehung häufig, lebten die zwei Liebenden ihre eigenständigen Leben an verschiedenen Wohnorten weiter, führten ihre Beziehung `auf langer Distanz´. Jahrelang nur auf Briefwechsel und Telefonate beschränkt, emotional schon früh entgleist, driftete die Romanze in eine virtuelle Realität aus Mutmaßungen, Sehnsüchten und Befürchtungen ab. Die Distanz zwischen den zwei getrennten Welten - hier Mitteleuropa, dort die amerikanische Westküste - in denen sie mit dem inneren Traumbild von der jeweils anderen gelebt haben, bleibt zwischen den Liebenden bestehen , auch als sie entlich wieder miteinander im Bett liegen; mehr noch, die Getrenntheit wird da erst untrüglich real.

Ein sehr außergewöhnliches kleines Buch, das zum Nachdenken anregt. Wie sieht meine Realität aus, meine Wirklichkeit, mein Wunschdenken - und wie das meiner Partnerin? Wie sehen meine Ansprüche aus, wie die meiner Partnerin? Auch wenn man nicht in einer Fernbeziehung lebt, wird man viele der beschriebenen Aspekte kennen, wiedererkennen.
