In einer Zeit, in der die Selbsterfahrungsromane in fremden Kulturen boomen, ist hier ein ganz besonderes Buch dieser Gattung entstanden. Wohltuend anders als die meisten anderen Reisenden, lässt sich Antje Olowaili im wahrsten Sinne mit Haut und Haaren auf die fremde Kultur ein. Nimmt auf, versucht zu verstehen und umzusetzen, was sie lernt. Ohne Bewertungen aus ihrer bisherigen Sozialisation heraus, die sonst so oft in diesen Erlebnissen vorherrscht.
