Als sich im April 1900 Johanna Kappes aus Karlsruhe zusammen mit vier anderen jungen Frauen an der Universität Freiburg immatrikulieren durfte, wurde ein neues Kapitel in der Geschichte der Frauenbildung aufgeschlagen. - Das vorliegende Buch zeichnet den seit mehr als 100 Jahre währenden Kampf um wissenschaftliche Emanzipation exemplarisch nach. Es begleitet Studentinnen aus fünf Generationen und fragt, ob und wie sie sich in der akademischen Mannerwelt behaupten konnten. Auf der Grundlage von weit über 300 Selbstzeugnissen wie Briefen, Tagebüchern, Autobiografien und Interviews wird so ein lebendiges Bild alltäglicher Geschlechterbeziehungen in der speziellen Welt der Universität entworfen.

Beurteilung von Miriam
Für jede, die sich für Frauengeschichte interessiert, ist dieses Sachbuch sicherlich eine Fundgrube. Es ist nicht lesbisch ausgerichtet, erzählt aber einen wichtigen Teil der Frauengeschichte. Und das - als Sachbuch! - in einer sehr ansprechenden, gut lesbaren Form. Mal etwas anderes als Romane!
