Zwei Freundinnen verbringen einen ersten gemeinsamen Urlaub in einer einsamen Ferienhaussiedlung irgendwo auf dem Land. Jana wird krank, ihr Fieber steigt. Die Siedlung liegt in einem Funkloch. Frike beschließt, trotz scheußlichen Wetters noch in der Nacht Hilfe zu holen. Einige Tage später erwacht Jana aus ihren Fieberträumen. Frike ist verschwunden. Die unheilvolle, atemberaubende Geschichte nimmt ihren Lauf. Jana gibt eine Vermisstenanzeige auf. Bis herauskommt, was mit Frike geschehen ist, möchte sie in der Gegend bleiben. Beim Trampen ins Dorf lernt sie einen Jungen kennen, der sie auf den Hof seiner Familie einlädt. Da sie sich in der einsamen Siedlung ohne Frike sehr unwohl fühlt, nimmt sie die Einladung dankbar an. Jana verschließt sich ihrer Trauer. Stattdessen wird sie von Wut getrieben, macht sich auf die Suche, entdeckt Ungeheuerliches und gerät schließlich in Lebensgefahr. Ein dramatischer Showdown beginnt.

Beurteilung von Miriam
Als nicht so großer Krimi-Fan habe ich wahrscheinlich nicht intensiv genug gelesen, bzw. hatte zu viele Pausen dazwischen. So konnte sich der Sog, der von anderen Leserinnen deutlich empfunden wurde, bei mir nicht aufbauen, was meine Begeisterung natürlich deutlich gebremst hat. Stilistisch schreibt die Autorin sicher, für Krimi-Fans die sich auch von einem etwas härteren "Aufhänger" nicht abschrecken lassen, sicherlich ein guter Tipp.
ehrlich währt am längesten, also:
ich kenne annette berr als frau mit schrägen perspektiven, war daher sehr gespannt auf dieses 'werk' ..
kurz: ich schwankte zwischen der empfindung: 'was ein großer scheiß'/weglegen wollen und nicht weglegen können.
dazwischen befindet sich viel .. luft ..
