Im Gegensatz zu den meisten anderen Reihen hat die Leserin hier nicht den Zwang (zumindest bisher nicht), die Bücher der Reihe nach lesen zu müssen. Oder erst einmal 2000 Seiten bearbeiten zu müssen, um endlich zur Lösung zu kommen (Tad Williams läßt grüßen ...). Nein, die Autorin hat hier in ihrer zweiten Midland-Geschichte zwar viele Figuren dabei, die einem aus dem ersten Roman bekannt sind. Aber die Geschichte ist wunderbar eigenständig, mit lauter tollen neuen Einfällen, vollkommen neuem Aufhänger und wieder so herrlich zu lesen wie das erste Buch!
